Ben Nevis Sunrise Challenge

Take on the UK’s highest peak – Ben Nevis (1,345m) – under the stars and experience the magic of reaching the summit as dawn breaks over the Scottish Highlands. This unforgettable night hike begins in darkness, with head torches lighting the way as you ascend the mountain on the Mountain Track.

As the sky begins to glow and the first rays of sun hit the summit, you’ll be standing on top of Britain, surrounded by awe-inspiring views and a sense of achievement that’s hard to beat. The descent offers a second chance to enjoy the stunning landscape in daylight, revealing the beauty you passed in the dark.

This is a tough challenge involving 7-9 hours of hiking, cold and changing conditions, and steep, uneven terrain – but it’s also one of the most memorable ways to experience Ben Nevis. Our qualified mountain leaders will guide and support you every step of the way to ensure your safety and enjoyment throughout the night.

Who Is This Event For?

This challenge is for adventurous souls with a good level of fitness who are looking for a unique and rewarding experience. If you’ve tackled day hikes and are ready to step things up with a night ascent of the UK’s highest mountain, this is for you.

You’ll need to be comfortable walking for extended periods, including steep ascents and descents, and prepared for cold and unpredictable mountain weather. Ideal for those seeking something out of the ordinary – whether it’s your first time on Ben Nevis or a return visit done differently.

You Will Need To Bring:

  • Suitable walking boots (with ankle support)
  • Appropriate clothing for the walk
  • Waterproof Jacket and trousers
  • Spare warm layer
  • Hat and gloves
  • Head torch and spare batteries (can be hired from us for £4 please remember to add this to your basket before paying)
  • Food, snacks and water (minimum 1.5 litre’s) for the walk
  • Camera to capture the adventure (optional)
  • Walking poles (optional)

Your Chosen Charity

If you’re taking on the challenge to fundraise, you’ll select your chosen charity from the drop-down menu above – so make sure to pick the right one!

Once you’ve registered, we’ll pass your contact details to your selected charity. They’ll then get in touch to support you with your fundraising journey and offer any guidance you need. Your charity will also let you know which fundraising platform they prefer you to use, helping you get set up and ready to start raising those all-important donations.

Please Note:

Mountain weather can be fickle at the best of times and there is no guarantee that you will see the sunrise or even a view. The walk will take place in most weather but the leader will reserve final judgement on the day (in most cases) and maintains the right to abandon any walk if they feel the safety of themselves or any participant is at risk.
