Pen y Fan for Sunrise

Experience the magic of the mountains as you hike under the stars to watch the sunrise from the summit of Pen y Fan – the highest peak in South Wales, standing at 886 metres.

This is a truly unforgettable adventure. We’ll set off in the early hours, guided by headtorch light, and climb through the darkness with a team of like-minded adventurers. As the sky begins to lighten and you near the summit, the views will open up to reveal the dramatic beauty of the Brecon Beacons National Park – and if the weather’s on our side, you’ll be treated to a spectacular sunrise from the top.

But don’t be fooled – while this might be a shorter mountain route, the early start, cold conditions, and steep ascent make this a tough physical challenge. A good level of fitness is required, and we recommend some hillwalking practice in advance.

You’ll be led by experienced, qualified mountain leaders who will keep the group safe, motivated, and on pace throughout the climb. Whether you’re here for the views, the personal achievement, or just the adventure, Pen y Fan for Sunrise is a challenge that will leave you buzzing long after the sun comes up.

Difficulty: Moderate
Duration: 6-7 hours
Distance: 10 miles

Once you’ve registered, we’ll pass your contact details to your selected charity. They’ll then get in touch to support you with your fundraising journey and offer any guidance you need. Please Note:

Mountain weather can be fickle at the best of times and there is no guarantee that you will see the sunrise or even a view. The walk will take place in most weather but the leader will reserve final judgement on the day (in most cases) and maintains the right to abandon any walk if they feel the safety of themselves or any participant is at risk.
