Edale Skyline Challenge

Take on one of the most iconic ridge walks in the Peak District – the Edale Skyline. This epic circular route is a true test of endurance, covering 20 miles of rugged trails, sweeping ridgelines, and dramatic moorland scenery.

Starting and finishing near the beautiful village of Edale, this challenge will see you summit some of the area’s most legendary high points, including Ringing Roger, Lose Hill, Mam Tor, Brown Knoll, and Kinder Scout. With jaw-dropping views in every direction, the Edale Skyline is as rewarding as it is demanding.

Make no mistake – this is a tough full-day challenge, with long climbs, exposed terrain, and over 1,200m of elevation gain. A good level of fitness and hillwalking experience is essential, and we strongly recommend training in the lead-up to the event.

You’ll be fully supported throughout the day by our experienced mountain leaders, who will guide, motivate, and keep you safe as you tackle this legendary route.

Who Is This Event For?

The Edale Skyline Challenge is ideal for experienced walkers and anyone looking to test their physical and mental stamina on one of the Peak District’s most iconic routes.

You’ll need a good level of fitness and the ability to walk for 8 – 10 hours over rugged, uneven terrain. This challenge is perfect for those seeking a big day out in the hills, with steep ascents, long distances, and dramatic ridgelines offering spectacular views throughout.

If you enjoy pushing yourself, exploring wild landscapes, and taking on a challenge with the support of experienced mountain leaders and like-minded adventurers, this event will be right up your street.

While the route doesn’t involve technical scrambling, it is a serious endurance challenge that requires preparation. We recommend regular training and long-distance walks in the lead-up to help you take on the Skyline safely and confidently.

If you’re ready for one of the most rewarding hikes in the Peak District, the Edale Skyline Challenge is calling.

You Will Need To Bring:

  • Suitable walking boots (with ankle support)
  • Appropriate clothing for the walk
  • Waterproof Jacket and trousers
  • Spare warm layer
  • Hat and gloves
  • Food, snacks and water (minimum 1.5 litre’s) for the walk
  • Camera to capture the adventure (optional)
  • Walking poles (optional)

Once you’ve registered, we’ll pass your contact details to your selected charity. They’ll then get in touch to support you with your fundraising journey and offer any guidance you need. Please Note:

The walk will take place in most weather but the leader will reserve final judgement on the day (in most cases) and maintains the right to abandon any walk if they feel the safety of themselves or any participant is at risk.
