The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge (Y3P)
Nestled within the stunning Yorkshire Dales National Park are the renowned Three Peaks: Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough. The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge invites you to conquer all three summits within 12 hours, covering a total distance of 24 miles (38.6 km) and an ascent of 5,200 feet (1,585 meters).
Your adventure begins with the ascent of Pen-y-ghent, standing at 2,277 feet (694 meters). As you reach the summit, you’ll be greeted by breathtaking views, but there’s no time to linger. The journey continues through midday towards Whernside, the highest of the three peaks at 2,415 feet (736 meters).
In the afternoon, you’ll tackle the final climb to the summit of Ingleborough, which rises to 2,372 feet (723 meters). The panoramic vistas from the top are truly awe-inspiring, offering a well-deserved sense of accomplishment. The challenge concludes with a descent back into Horton-in-Ribblesdale, where you will be awarded your completion medal, marking the end of your exhilarating trek.
This iconic route not only tests your endurance but also rewards you with some of the most spectacular scenery in the UK. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or a first-time adventurer, the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is an unforgettable experience.

What Is Included?

You Will Need To Bring:
- Suitable walking boots (with ankle support)
- Appropriate clothing for the walk
- Waterproof Jacket and trousers
- Spare warm layer
- Hat and gloves
- Food, snacks and water (minimum 1.5 litre’s) for the walk
- Camera to capture the adventure (optional)
- Walking poles (optional)
Your Charity:
This challenge has been set up for the supporters of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, all those taking part do so to fundraise for this cause.
Please Note:
The walk will take place in most weather but the leader will reserve final judgement on the day (in most cases) and maintains the right to abandon any walk if they feel the safety of themselves or any participant is at risk.
